Both teams to score, usually shortened to BTTS, asks whether each side will score at least once. The final score and the winner do not matter.
What BTTS yes and no mean
- Yes wins if both teams score at least one goal: 1-1, 2-1, 3-2.
- No wins if at least one team fails to score: 0-0, 1-0, 3-0.
Only the 90 minutes plus stoppage time count. Own goals count for the team credited with the goal.
How often both teams score
In the last 245 finished matches in the archive, both teams scored in 58%. For comparison, 60% of the same matches went over 2.5 goals.
Each competition's statistics page shows its own BTTS rate, for example Serie A statistics.
BTTS and over 2.5 are not the same
The two markets often win together, but not always:
- 2-1: BTTS yes and over 2.5 both win.
- 1-1: BTTS yes wins, over 2.5 loses.
- 3-0: over 2.5 wins, BTTS yes loses.
- 0-0 or 1-0: both lose.
See over/under 2.5 explained for the goals market.
Reading the prices
BTTS yes at 1.70 implies 1 ÷ 1.70 = 59%; no at 2.10 implies 48%. As with every market, the total is above 100% because of the bookmaker's margin. When a strong favourite meets a weak attack, the no side is usually the shorter price.
